Crash Closes Londonbound M2 Near Faversham
A single-vehicle collision slammed the Londonbound carriageway of the M2 at around 1.30am on Thursday, forcing Kent Police to shut the road. Several HGVs and other vehicles are stuck in the resulting gridlock.
Police Lead Incident Response – No Reopening Time Yet
Kent Police are in charge of investigations at the scene. National Highways teams are on hand managing traffic. Due to the scale of work needed, officers can’t say when the road will reopen but hope to clear the closure before morning rush hour.
Police Officer Miraculously Walks Away Unhurt
The crash involved a police officer, who escaped serious injury. Kent Police have been contacted for a statement.
Follow Official Diversion Route to Avoid Delays
Drivers are advised to follow the signed diversion marked with a solid square symbol on local signs. The route is:
- Exit M2 at Junction 6, join A251 southbound towards A252 in Challock.
- At the roundabout, turn west onto A252 towards Charing and the A20 junction.
- Join A20 westbound to Maidstone and M20 Junction 8.
- Enter M20 Londonbound to Junction 7.
- Exit at Junction 7, take northbound A249 towards M2 Junction 5 to resume westbound M2 travel.
