Kent Police have confiscated approximately 300 cannabis plants following a fire at a rural industrial site in Ashford.
The authorities were alerted to the incident around 11:30 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024. The report indicated a suspected cannabis cultivation at an address situated on Bethersden Road, Smarden, where a fire had also broken out.
Upon arrival, officers swiftly responded to the scene. The fire was subsequently extinguished by the Kent Fire and Rescue Service, who ensured the area was secure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries stemming from the incident.
Subsequent investigations led the police to remove a substantial quantity of cannabis plants and associated growing paraphernalia from the site.
Efforts are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire and to ascertain the individuals responsible for the cannabis cultivation operation.
