Renewed Appeal for Witnesses Following Noxious Substance Attack in Ramsgate

Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward following an incident where a man was targeted with a noxious substance in Ramsgate, Kent.

The incident occurred in St Laurence Graveyard on Manston Road, prompting extensive enquiries by law enforcement. Investigators have reviewed local CCTV footage and are now seeking information from individuals who may have been in the area between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The victim, who sustained burns to the back of his head, was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities believe that there may be individuals who witnessed the incident but have not yet contacted the police.

In particular, detectives are keen to speak to a man described as white, in his mid to late 20s, with short dark hair and glasses. He was seen wearing blue jeans and a black coat with a hood and was observed leaving the churchyard around 9pm. While not considered a suspect, investigators believe that this individual may have valuable information that could assist in their enquiries.

Chief Inspector Ian Swallow, District Commander for Thanet, emphasized the rarity of such incidents while acknowledging their significant impact on the community. He reassured residents that there would be an increased police presence in the area as enquiries continue.

Individuals with information are urged to contact Kent Police at 01843 222289, quoting reference number 46/23590/24. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or through their online form.
