Young Man Stabbed to Death in Norwood Road Horror
Tragedy struck Norwood Road SE27 on Saturday evening as police rushed to the scene of a fatal stabbing. At around 5.55pm on April 15, officers, backed by ambulance crews, found 20-year-old Filipe Oliveira fatally wounded in the communal area above local shops.
Victim Found at Doorway to Flats
Filipe was discovered at the doorstep between the street and steps leading to the flats. Despite frantic paramedic efforts, he died at the scene. Filipe was a local man, known in the community, and his family are being supported by specialist officers.
Homicide Investigation Underway
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn is leading the probe into this shocking murder. She told reporters:
“Our investigation is making significant progress. But I urge witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward. We want to speak to a man seen fleeing the scene along Christchurch Road. He is described as a short-built Black man, wearing a blue hooded top and a blue Covid mask. He may have discarded the mask shortly after.”
Police Appeal for Crucial Witnesses

- Cordons around the scene have now been lifted.
