Sussex to Lead New Crackdown on Anti-Social Behaviour
Government Backs Bold New Action Plan
Sussex is set to become the UK hotspot for tackling anti-social behaviour, thanks to the Government’s fresh Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan. Katy Bourne, Police & Crime Commissioner for Sussex, has thrown her weight behind the initiative. The plan features a new ‘Immediate Justice’ pilot, targeting troublemakers with tough but fair consequences—and Sussex will be the testing ground.
Taskforce on the Frontline
The strategy also includes the launch of a nationwide Anti-Social Behaviour Taskforce. This powerful team will unite Police and Crime Commissioners, police forces, local councils, and partner agencies. Together, they’ll bring a sharp, coordinated focus to the growing problem across the country.
Bourne Pushes for Community Action
Katy Bourne has already started forming project teams alongside Sussex Police and local authorities to roll out targeted programmes. She’s keen to involve residents too, urging them to play an active role in shaping the Immediate Justice pilot. The scheme offers offenders a chance to make amends by repairing damage or volunteering, giving communities a say in how justice is delivered.
A Positive Step for Sussex
Bourne welcomes the plan as a significant stride forward in tackling anti-social behaviour in Sussex and beyond. With fresh funding and a united front, the message is clear: chaos-makers won’t get a free pass any longer.
