Man, 43, Dies After Holy Cross Stabbing – Five Teens Arrested
A man was found seriously injured on St Hilda’s Avenue, Holy Cross, just before 2.30pm on Monday. Emergency crews, including several police vehicles and the Great North Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.
Tragically, the 43-year-old was pronounced dead at the spot.
Five Teenagers Arrested in Murder Probe
- Three male teens were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, June 20, but later released under investigation.
- Two more suspects, aged 18 and 16, were also arrested and remain in police custody.
Police Appeal for Witnesses as Investigation Continues
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist family liaison officers.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Louise Jenkins, Northumbria Police. “A thorough investigation is underway. While it’s early days, we do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.”
“Our officers remain in the area pursuing several lines of inquiry. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.”
