A 12-year-old boy tragically died after being thrown from a spinning roundabout at Wharton Recreation Ground, Winsford. Police arrested a 13-year-old suspect in connection with the shocking incident.

Tragedy at Wharton Recreation Ground

The victim, identified locally as Logan Carter, suffered fatal injuries on Friday evening (29 August) while playing with friends near Ledward Street.

Despite rapid medical response, Logan was declared dead at the scene. Authorities revealed the arrest was made on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, linked to reports that an electric bike was used to spin the roundabout at dangerously high speeds.

The 13-year-old has since been released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.

Heartbreaking Family Tribute

Logan’s father, Rob, shared a touching message online, urging others to cherish their loved ones:

“All I can say to people is hold your kids and tell them every day how much you love them because you never know when they will be gone.

When I woke up on Friday, my little mate, I didn’t think that would be the last time I get to see you. My heart has been ripped in two. I will never forget you, my mate. Sleep tight up there.”

A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Logan’s funeral has already raised over £14,000.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Sergeant John Rhodes of Cheshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Investigations Unit said:

“This was a deeply tragic incident involving a very young victim. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the boy who sadly died at the scene.

We are asking anyone who was in or around Wharton Recreation Ground at the time and saw anything to please get in touch.

We urge the public not to engage in speculation on social media as this is an ongoing investigation.”

Next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
