  • Strictly Come Dancing Star Cleared as Police Drop Rape Investigation

Strictly Come Dancing Star Cleared as Police Drop Rape Investigation

A Strictly Come Dancing star who was arrested on suspicion of rape following a BBC event will face no criminal charges after police concluded there was insufficient evidence.

The unnamed individual was detained on October 13, 2025, prompting an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary. However, officers have now confirmed the case has been closed with no further action taken.

In a statement, police said: “There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested in London on Monday, 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape.

“The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday, 6 January, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action. Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined there was insufficient evidence to bring forward charges.”

The decision brings an end to months of uncertainty surrounding the case, which had added to ongoing scrutiny of the BBC’s flagship dance programme.

A source described the ordeal as deeply distressing, stating the situation had been “a really awful, hellish period for all parties,” adding that the individual now hopes to clear his name fully.

The arrest was one of several controversies linked to the long-running show in recent years. Just months earlier, another male star was arrested on suspicion of rape and alleged non-consensual image offences, with that investigation still ongoing.

The programme has also faced internal challenges. In 2024, allegations made by actress Amanda Abbington against professional dancer Giovanni Pernice led to a costly internal investigation, which upheld some complaints. Meanwhile, dancer Graziano Di Prima was dismissed after admitting misconduct during rehearsals.

In response, the BBC introduced stricter safeguarding measures, including chaperones during training sessions and expanded welfare support for contestants and professionals.

Further scrutiny followed when singer Wynne Evans was removed from a BBC role after making a controversial remark during the show’s tour. He later raised allegations of drug use involving other contestants, which were investigated and ultimately dismissed due to a lack of evidence.

Despite the series of incidents, sources indicate the programme is now moving forward, with officials confident in its future following multiple investigations that found no grounds for further action.

The BBC has not issued additional comment on the latest development.

Arsonist Locked Up for Setting Fire Under Chatham Flats

A reckless arsonist has been jailed for over two years after igniting a rubbish fire beneath a block of flats in Chatham, risking lives and causing major damage.

Fire Under Carton House Sparks Panic

Just after midnight on Saturday, 13 December 2025, Michelle Sutcliffe, 40, of Lester Road, Chatham, deliberately set fire to a pile of rubbish between two parked cars in the parking area beneath Carton House on New Road. She calmly walked away as flames rapidly spread. The blaze badly damaged both vehicles and caused light fixtures to crash from the parking ceiling. Residents nearby were at home, fearing for their safety.

    Caught on CCTV and Sentenced

Police reviewed CCTV footage and quickly identified Sutcliffe as the culprit. She was arrested on 19 December and charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. At Maidstone Crown Court on 26 March 2026, Sutcliffe pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years and two months in prison.

    Police Warn of Dangerous Consequences

“Sutcliffe’s reckless and thoughtless behaviour caused significant financial damage and created real fear among residents as the fire spread,” said Police Constable Evie Cousins. “It is fortunate that no one was injured, as fires of this nature can escalate rapidly. Sutcliffe must now face the consequences of her actions.”

  • Chaos Hits Wireless Festival as Kanye West to Headline All Three Nights

Chaos Hits Wireless Festival as Kanye West to Headline All Three Nights

All hell has broken loose since Wireless announced Kanye West would headline every night of their London festival this July. Big-name sponsors Pepsi, PayPal, and Diageo have already pulled out in the last 48 hours.

MPs Demand Kanye Ban Over Antisemitic Comments

Members of Parliament are furious. They say Kanye shouldn’t even be allowed into the UK, let alone headline one of the biggest music events of the year. Labour MPs Luke Akehurst and Rachael Maskell have called for a ban. Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey is also pushing the Home Secretary to block Kanye’s entry.

“It is deeply concerning Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism,” said Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

“Antisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted firmly wherever it appears. Everyone has a responsibility to ensure Britain is a place where Jewish people feel safe.”

Even London Mayor Sadiq Khan slammed the booking, branding Kanye’s past statements as “not reflective of London’s values,” though he stressed City Hall wasn’t involved in the private deal.

Kanye’s Apology and Mental Health Claims

Kanye has apologised, explaining his antisemitic remarks were made during a four-month manic episode linked to bipolar disorder. He even took out a full-page apology ad in the Wall Street Journal and removed a track titled ‘Heil Hitler’ from streaming services.

Star Power or Public Danger? The Battle Over Kanye’s UK Gig

Despite the uproar, the Home Secretary still has the power to deny Kanye entry if he’s deemed “non-conducive to the public good.” But fans argue it would be a shame to block him after his recent comeback. His two sold-out shows at LA’s SoFi Stadium raked in £33 million – making it one of the highest-grossing concert events EVER.

Some say Kanye should be allowed to perform for his loyal UK fans and move on, especially given the bigger crises facing Britain right now – like the cost of living. After all, he’ll just fly in, do his set, and head straight back to America. Maybe he’ll even toss out a ‘Shabbat Shalom’ shout during his act. What’s the problem?

Heart-Stopping Moment Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Busy Motorway, Dodging Drivers

A pilot’s quick thinking saved lives after a small plane was forced to make a nerve-wracking emergency landing on a bustling motorway. Commuters on Pennsylvania’s Interstate 78 were left stunned as the aircraft narrowly avoided crashing into baffled drivers on Saturday morning.

    Dashcam Captures Daring Touchdown

A moment captured on a dashcam shows the pilot expertly navigating the plane along the highway when engine trouble struck shortly after takeoff from Solberg, New Jersey. The 65-year-old Michigan pilot had no choice but to use the busy dual carriageway as a makeshift runway while en route to Indiana.

A witness described the scene: “He landed in two lanes. His wings stretched from nearly the centre median to the grass verge on the other side. He looked calm, just staring straight ahead – no panic at all.”

    Passengers Safe After High-Stakes Landing

Miraculously, neither the pilot nor the 34-year-old passenger suffered any injuries. Emergency crews quickly responded, helping tow the plane to a nearby airport in Allentown for repairs.

Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Chief Justin Oswald praised the outcome, saying, “This is probably the best possible result for an incident like this. Everyone worked together smoothly, despite never training for something like a plane landing on a highway.”

    Highway Reopened, FAA Launches Investigation

Traffic on the eastbound lanes of I-78 was fully restored by 1pm, after temporary closures for emergency response. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration has launched a formal inquiry into the incident.

  • Drink-Driver Jailed After High-Speed Police Chase Through Brighton

Drink-Driver Jailed After High-Speed Police Chase Through Brighton

A dangerous drink-driver has been locked up after leading Sussex police on a high-speed pursuit through Brighton last summer.

    Chase Ends in Cannon Place

On 22 July, officers from the Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit spotted a speeding Seat Arona tearing through the Seven Dials area. The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Jordan Lewis, took police on a chase through the city before finally stopping in Cannon Place.

Lewis, who has no fixed address, was arrested on the spot. Thankfully, no injuries were reported to him or anyone else during the incident.

Multiple Offences, High Blood Alcohol Level

    • Taking a vehicle without consent
    • Driving without a licence

Justice Served: 34 Weeks Behind Bars

On 11 March, the court handed Lewis a 34-week jail sentence. He was also banned from driving for 18 months and slapped with a £154 victim surcharge.

This sentence sends a clear message: drink-driving and dangerous pursuits won’t be tolerated on Brighton’s streets.

  • Storm Dave to Slam UK This Easter with 90mph Winds, Snow, and Travel Chaos

Storm Dave to Slam UK This Easter with 90mph Winds, Snow, and Travel Chaos

Brits Warned: Stock Up Now as Storm Dave Looms

The UK braces for Storm Dave this Easter weekend, threatening havoc with brutal 90mph gusts, snow blizzards, and widespread disruption. The Met Office has issued four yellow warnings for wind and one for snow, flagging serious risks including power cuts, flying debris, and travel headaches.

Forecasters urge everyone to prepare immediately. “People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance,” the Met Office warned. “Get torches, batteries, phone chargers, and essentials ready before the savage winds hit.”

Roads Jammed as Millions Brave Storm Despite Fuel Price Hikes

Fuel prices are soaring, but that hasn’t stopped millions of Brits from hitting the roads for the busiest Easter getaway since 2022. The AA predicts a jaw-dropping 21.7 million journeys on Thursday alone, with Saturday set to be equally packed.

RAC’s Rod Dennis cautions: “Storm Dave means tough driving conditions in northern and western areas. Slow down and hold tight—gusts will be fierce.”

    Traffic hotspots to avoid:

    • M6 from Birmingham to Blackpool
    • M25 between M23 and M40
    • M5 near Bristol and the South West
    • A303 in Wiltshire
    • M4 across South Wales

National Highways has scrapped 1,500 miles of roadworks to ease congestion, but expect delays of up to an hour on the M4’s Prince of Wales Bridge and around London on the M25.

Rail Chaos Ahead: West Coast Main Line Shuts for 11 Days

Rail travellers face major disruption this bank holiday. The West Coast Main Line will close completely between London Euston and Milton Keynes from Good Friday until April 8 for a £400 million upgrade.

Replacement buses will run on some routes. Others face cancellations and diversions. London’s Tube network will also see weekend shutdowns on Bakerloo, District, and several other lines.

“Bank Holidays are quieter, so we use this time for essential work. Passengers should check travel plans and brace for disruptions,” said Network Rail’s Jake Kelly.

Blizzard and Gale Warnings for Northern UK

Storm Dave is set to arrive at 2pm Saturday, blasting the country with average gusts of 50-60mph and up to 90mph in western Scotland. Snow warnings are in place for northwest Scotland, where accumulations could reach 8 inches.

Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Dan Holley said: “A cold Canadian blast fuels fierce winds and low pressure. Expect power cuts, structural damage, and a risk of injury from flying debris.”

Coastal areas face large waves threatening roads and properties.

Safety Tips: Don’t Underestimate the Storm

RoSPA advises drivers to be extra cautious in wet and windy weather. “Slow down, keep a safe distance, and grip the wheel tight—especially near high-sided vehicles,” they said.

The RNLI warns beachgoers to stay in lifeguarded zones and beware cold water shock. Water safety chief Ross Macleod urges, “If you get into trouble, float to live. Relax, control your breathing, and signal for help.”

Heading to Europe? Fill Your Tank in the UK First

Drivers travelling to Europe should top up fuel before crossing the Channel. Petrol prices in France, Germany, and the Netherlands are up to 57p per litre higher than in Britain.

Steve Gooding from the RAC Foundation said: “Filling up at Dover before heading into Europe could save drivers a small fortune.”

Dover Port expects an Easter surge with 37,000 cars. Travellers are advised not to arrive more than two hours before ferry departure to avoid gridlock.

Storm Dave isn’t messing about this Easter. Stay alert, pack smart, and plan ahead to dodge disaster.

Blood Cancer Ward Shake-up Sparks Outcry at Princess Royal Hospital

Plans to move blood cancer patients from the Chartwell Unit at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) to King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, have unleashed a storm of protest. Healthwatch Bromley’s latest report reveals widespread frustration among patients and staff, fueling a petition smashing 30,000 signatures.

Patients Praise Care but Slam Long Waits and Poor Communication

Healthwatch Bromley volunteers surveyed patients last November and December 2025, gathering feedback from both Chartwell and King’s College’s haematology centre. The verdict? Mixed.

    • 70% gave the Chartwell Unit a glowing “very good” rating, praising the “holistic nature” of care and staff’s “care and consideration.”
    • Yet 65% blasted long waits to see doctors and frustrating delays in test results.

“Nurses are extremely busy, sometimes it is hard to get their attention. Some nurses can be abrupt. Long waiting time. Emotional and psychological support would be good from the start. You can ask for it, but it won’t be immediate,” revealed one Chartwell patient.

Communication with GPs was slammed as “poor,” piling on patient frustration. Parking woes also took a heavy toll. PRUH patients griped about pricey, hard-to-find parking spaces, while Denmark Hill offered none at all.

Healthwatch Demands Shuttle Service Between Hospitals

Parking emerged as a “major concern” and the “overwhelming negative theme” in feedback. Healthwatch Bromley is now calling for a shuttle bus linking PRUH and King’s College to ease patient and visitor journeys.

A spokesperson for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust responded: “We have received a copy of Healthwatch Bromley’s report and will use the findings to improve the experience and care of patients accessing cancer services at the PRUH.”

Joseph Hughes, 30, from Wandsworth, London, was snagged last September at a festival near the Wiltshire-Dorset border. Officers swooped when they found him carrying a stash of hard and soft drugs plus a hefty pile of cash.

    Serious Charges Laid Against Hughes

    • Four counts for intent to supply Class A drugs: cocaine, LSD, MDMA, and 2C-B
    • Three counts for intent to supply Class B drugs: cannabis, ketamine, and chloromethcathinone
    • Offers to supply LSD and psilocin (magic mushrooms)
    • Two counts of money laundering

    Upcoming Court Date

Hughes is set to face Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 10th July to answer the charges. This bust sends a strong warning to festival drug dealers in the region.

  • Labour Splashes £2 Million a Week to France to Police Channel – Despite No-Show on Targets

Labour Splashes £2 Million a Week to France to Police Channel – Despite No-Show on Targets

£16 Million Payout with No Guarantees

Labour is handing over a staggering £2 million a week to France to police the English Channel, even though Paris refuses to accept any targets to halt the small boat crossings.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood inked a £16.2 million extension for two months with French authorities, continuing to subsidise their beach patrols. This deal comes despite the French doubling down on their rejection of any payment linked to results.

French Refuse ‘Payment By Results’ Deal

Ms Mahmood demanded that future payments should depend on the French intercepting illegal crossings. But France claims linking funds to success rates would endanger lives at sea.

Since the start of the year, fewer than one-third of attempted Channel crossings have been stopped by French patrols, with over 4,400 migrants making it to UK shores despite awful weather.

Unable to secure stricter terms, Mahmood extended the current deal to avoid a Channel chaos free-for-all and promised to “do whatever it takes to restore order and control at our borders.”

Labour Slammed for Throwing Money at France Amid Rising Crossings

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp slammed Labour’s handling as a “ripping off of Britain.”

“France is stopping fewer small boat illegal immigrants than ever,” Philp said.

“There should be zero illegal migrants trying to reach the UK after leaving safe France. Yet Labour now pays £2 million a week for failure. They lack the backbone to get a deal. Keir Starmer has overseen a 45% jump in Channel crossings since the election – his promise to smash the gangs is in tatters.”

French Concerns Over Dangerous Sea Interventions

French Interior Ministry insiders and the Navy warn that intervening at sea is perilous, with potential for drownings. Laurent Nunez, the French Interior Minister, opposes aggressive sea interceptions due to risks to officers and migrants.

Paris also rejected UK demands to fund salaries for staff at new migrant detention centres and police barracks in northern France, pushing costs back on the UK.

    The Grim Numbers

    • Just 2,064 out of 6,233 attempted crossings stopped by France so far in 2026 – the lowest interception rate on record.
    • Last year, only around 35% of migrants were blocked from crossing by French authorities.
    • British cash pays for French patrol overtime, insurance, boats, and surveillance drones.

A senior French police union official warned, “Trying to force overcrowded boats to turn back is extremely dangerous, especially when women and children are on board.”

    Home Office Response

A Home Office insider insisted Mahmood is “driving a hard bargain” to get better terms. “We want more bang for our buck,” the source said.

Ms Mahmood said: “Our work with France has stopped 42,000 attempts by illegal migrants to cross the Channel. While we finalise a new and improved UK-France deal, French law enforcement operations will continue. I will do whatever it takes to restore order and control at our borders.”

But with French resistance to conditional funding and UK reluctance to meet all French demands, the migrant crisis looks far from over.

Welsh Vet Network Smashes Antibiotic Stewardship Targets

A game-changing Welsh programme is leading the fight against antibiotic resistance in animals. The Veterinary Prescribing Champion (VPC) network, part of the Welsh Government-backed Arwain DGC initiative, is smashing targets and reshaping vet prescribing habits across Wales.

Vet Network Grows Stronger with Record Participation

Over the past year, the VPC network has surged, with six new practices signed up and 12 fresh champions joining, totalling 86 VPCs covering 91% of eligible Welsh veterinary practices.

These vets are racking up continuous professional development (CPD) credits through workshops and webinars packed with evidence-based insights into prudent antibiotic use.

A recent survey revealed that a whopping 95.8% of vets rate antimicrobial resistance (AMR) discussions as vital to their training, with face-to-face events and webinars in hot demand.

Vets Speak Out: Why Stewardship Matters

“Being part of the VPC network brings a sense of pride to my work,” said Lara Robinson-Fletcher from Daleside Vets. “We share frustrations, successes and support each other in prescribing responsibly. Knowing my prescribing impacts antibiotic resistance drives me to stay vigilant.”

New Leadership and Ambitious Future Plans

Arwain DGC recently appointed Amelia Sidwell as Veterinary Development Manager, who is eager to build on the network’s success.

“I’m honoured to lead this next phase,” Amelia said. “Supporting vets in practice and helping them hit stewardship goals is my priority. The VPC network has come so far, and we’re just getting started.”

Plans include training vets in human behaviour change techniques to improve stewardship, expanding research efforts, and offering more high-quality CPD sessions through webinars and peer discussion groups.

Experts Praise Arwain DGC Programme’s Impact

Dr Joe Angell of Wern Vets Cyf hailed the programme as “hugely impactful” and a “spot-on example of vets, academics and farmers teaming up on a major public health crisis.”

“Results speak volumes: a countrywide drop in antibiotic use, restored antimicrobial sensitivity, and better welfare alongside production. AMR is a real threat and immediate action is essential.”

The VPC network’s innovative approach — combining training, peer support, and data-driven prescribing — is setting a new gold standard for antibiotic stewardship in veterinary medicine across Wales and beyond.
