Tragedy struck Woolwich on Thursday afternoon when police were called to reports of a shooting on Lord Warwick Street at 3.40pm. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Murder Investigation Underway

The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. Police have launched a full murder probe into the shocking incident.

Three Arrested but Released on Bail

  • Two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder.
  • All three suspects have since been released on bail as the investigation continues.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card said: “Our thoughts remain with Eghosa’s family and loved ones. They have asked for privacy at this difficult time.” “We understand the deep concern this has caused Woolwich and beyond, especially given Eghosa’s young age. We’ve increased patrols in the area and urge anyone with information to come forward.”
