Just Stop Oil Shock: 13 Activists Face Court After M25 Protest
Mass Arrests Over M25 Gantry Stunt
Thirteen Just Stop Oil protesters appeared at Southwark Crown Court, charged with public nuisance after their dramatic action on M25 gantries on November 8th. While eight were granted bail, five remained behind bars on remand awaiting their day in court.
Key Supporter Freed on Bail
Alfred Beswick, 26, pleaded guilty and secured bail. He is set for release later today following a 30-day stay in custody. Beswick is scheduled to return for sentencing on January 18th.
Crunch Date and Rising Prison Numbers
All cases are due for further hearings on December 20th. With Beswick’s release, the total number of Just Stop Oil activists currently imprisoned or on remand for protesting against new oil and gas licences hits 24.
More Court Action Looms
Meanwhile, another four Just Stop Oil campaigners face Guildford Crown Court tomorrow. They are charged with public nuisance linked to similar M25 protests on November 9th.
