Paedophile Au Pair Jailed for Life After Horrific Child Sex Crimes
Aaron McWilliams Sentenced for Sickening Abuse
Aaron McWilliams, 28, was handed a life sentence with a minimum of nine years behind bars at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, 2 November. The monster admitted a catalogue of vile offences, including:
- 14 counts of inciting a boy under 13 to sexual penetration
- 8 counts of inciting a boy under 13 to sexual activity without penetration
- 7 counts of sexual assault on a boy by touching
- 3 counts of making indecent photos of a child
- 3 counts of sexual assault on a child
- 2 counts of raping a boy under 13
- Attempted rape of a boy under 13
- Sexual assault on a one-year-old by touching
- Engaging in sexual activity with a boy under 15
Abuse Spanned UK and Europe Over Five Years
The sickening offences took place between 2012 and 2017 across the UK and Europe. McWilliams abused vulnerable children he was supposed to care for while working as a live-in au pair.
Disturbingly, McWilliams was first convicted in 2016 for sexually assaulting a four-year-old. After serving part of his sentence, he faked references to gain a new au pair job within weeks, where he abused another four-year-old, leading to a seven-year jail term in August 2017.
Thousands of Indecent Images Found, Multiple Victims Identified
Police seized McWilliams’ phone during the 2017 probe, uncovering 2,472 indecent images of children graded from category A (the worst) down to category C. Investigators also found numerous videos McWilliams made of himself abusing victims.
He confessed during two interviews in 2018. So far, 24 victims aged between four months and 14 years old have been identified — nearly all boys.
Detectives Praise Victims’ Courage, Warn Others to Come Forward
Detective Superintendent Adam Ghaboos, Central East Safeguarding Team, said: “McWilliams is a predatory paedophile who betrayed the trust of families and abused a large number of children in his care. This is every parent’s worst nightmare.”
“He is manipulative, cold, calculating and highly dangerous. This case is among the worst child abuse cases we have encountered.”
“I want to pay tribute to the bravery of the young victims and their families, whose bravery helped bring him to justice. McWilliams will now spend a long time in jail where he can no longer harm children.”
“Our investigation team worked tirelessly to secure justice, and I urge any families who employed McWilliams or suspect their children had contact with him to come forward.”
