Armed Dealer Caught Red-Handed in West Midlands Raid
21-year-old Khalid Khan was arrested in Rubery on 13 November 2021 after officers from the NCA’s Armed Operations Unit stormed his flat. As cops entered, a jacket, drugs, and a mobile phone were thrown out of the window onto the street.
Loaded Converted Gun and Crack Cocaine Seized
Hidden in the jacket was a loaded Retay blank-firing handgun, illegally converted to fire live ammunition. Alongside the weapon, officers found crack cocaine ready for supply.
Khan Admits Charges, Lands Nearly 10 Years Behind Bars
Khan, from Bacchus Road, Winson Green, pleaded guilty to firearms and drug supply offences at Birmingham Crown Court in December. Today, 28 February, he was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison.
NCA Commander Demands Public Help to Tackle Gun Crime
“Khalid Khan was effectively caught red handed in possession of a deadly weapon and didn’t seem worried by the fact there was a young child living in the same property,” said NCA Birmingham Branch Commander Mick Pope.
“We are determined to do all we can to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups putting guns on the streets of the West Midlands. But we need the help of the public. I’d encourage anyone with information about illegal firearms to contact Crimestoppers or their local police.”
