Brutal Abuser Ryan Thomas Hunter Jailed for Five Years

Ryan Thomas Hunter, 33, from Askew Street, Walton, was sentenced to five years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, 10th May. He was also slapped with an indefinite restraining order.

Convicted of Assault and Coercive Control

On 22nd March, a jury found Hunter guilty of two counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour, cannabis cultivation, and electricity theft.

The court heard that in January 2019, Hunter’s victim—whose identity is protected for legal reasons—came forward to police, revealing she had been subjected to violent assaults.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Urge Others to Speak Out

“I would like to praise the courage and dignity shown by the victim throughout the investigation,” said Detective Inspector Ben Wayment.

“This result shows that violence against women and girls will not be tolerated. We will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.”

“While no sentence can undo the damage Hunter caused, I hope today’s ruling sends a message of justice and encourages other victims to come forward.”

“Our dedicated team treats reports with compassion and expertise, ensuring offenders face the courts and pay for their crimes.”
