Drug Dealer Jailed for Four Years in Gloucester
Owais Hassanjee, 29, from Park End Road, Gloucester, has been slammed with a four-year prison sentence at Gloucester Crown Court. He admitted to two counts of being involved in supplying heroin and crack cocaine.
Drugs and Designer Gear Seized
The Force Crime Operations Team uncovered Hassanjee during a probe into drug supply across Cheltenham and Gloucester in 2018-2019. His big break came in 2019 when officers arrested him at Gatwick Airport as he tried to jet off on holiday.
Officers searched his bags and found a large stash of cash and nearly £2,500 worth of designer clothing — tags still intact. The clothes, bought from Flannels in Leicester, are believed to have been paid for with his dirty drug money.
Phone Evidence Links Hassanjee to £22,000 Drug Sales
Investigations into another suspect revealed messages tying Hassanjee to heroin and crack cocaine sales worth around £22,000. PC Joe Bawdon said:
“Owais Hassanjee is believed to have been supplying to drug users living in Cheltenham and Gloucester between 2018 and 2019. The team became aware of him after concerns were raised about activities taking place at his address and began to investigate his links to drug dealing.
His arrest in 2019 was a key part of the investigation as that allowed us to stop him from further offending. The team are pleased to have another drug dealer off the streets of Gloucestershire.”
Assets Destroyed Under Proceeds of Crime Act
The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of all drugs and drug paraphernalia seized from Hassanjee, dealing a serious blow to his criminal enterprise.
