Thug Targets Vulnerable OAP with Bogus Hedge-Cutting Scam
A brazen man showed up at an elderly woman’s home in Rempstone Road on the morning of August 6, 2022, pretending to offer hedge-cutting services. When she said no, he still managed to sneak inside.
£180 Stolen After Intimidation
The terrified woman showed her purse to the intruder in a bid to scare him off. Instead, he grabbed £180 before making his escape — without doing any gardening.
“This incident involved the targeting of a vulnerable elderly victim,” said Poole police Constable Sophia Winborn. “We are carrying out enquiries to identify the man responsible.”
Police Urge Public to Help Identify Suspect and Van
Officers released photos of the suspect and are hunting a small silver van with orange writing spotted nearby. They want anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
Constable Winborn added: “If you’ve been approached in similar circumstances or have any info, please get in touch.”
