Home Horror: Intruder Climbs Into Woman’s Bed and Assaults Her at 3am

Midnight Break-In Turns Into Nightmare

At 3am on October 21, Mamun Ahmed sneaked into a St Georges Quay property through a window. He swiped a mobile phone from the living room, then crept into the bedroom. Shockingly, Ahmed took off his shoes and climbed into bed with the sleeping victim.

Victim Wakes to Stranger’s Shocking Assault

Once in bed, Ahmed wrapped his arms around the woman and began kissing her. The victim jolted awake, switched on her phone’s light, and was horrified to find a stranger invading her personal space.

When she challenged him, Ahmed bolted. Her housemate confronted the intruder, sparking a scuffle that left Ahmed injured.

DNA Evidence Nails the Perp

Blood from Ahmed’s injury and DNA found at the scene helped detectives track him down. Police arrested the 33-year-old from Morecambe Road, Lancaster, who was still wearing the same Under Armour jumper from the night of the attack.

Following a CPS review, Ahmed was charged with sexual assault and burglary. At Preston Crown Court on December 22, he pleaded guilty to both.

Justice Served: Jail and Dangerous Offender Tag

Ahmed was handed a hefty sentence of four years and four months behind bars. He was also labelled a dangerous offender, facing an extended licence period of three years and eight months on release.

DS Chris Hammond of West CID said: “Ahmed is a dangerous individual who was determined to commit his sordid criminal act. I can only imagine the fear the victim felt waking up to find a stranger sexually assaulting her. I praise her bravery throughout this case. I also commend my team for their quick work that led to Ahmed’s arrest and sentencing. We hope this case encourages other victims to come forward. They will be listened to, believed, and supported by Lancashire Police.”
