A Warwickshire man has admitted 12 offences relating to online material intended to stir up hatred following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands. Thomas Webster, 29, from Lapworth, appeared before Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 5, where he pleaded guilty to all 12 charges. Ten of the offences related to posting material online using threatening words or behaviour intended to stir up racial hatred. Webster also admitted one offence of posting online material using threatening words or behaviour intended to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation. A further charge related to material intended to stir up hatred on the grounds of religion.
Counter-terrorism police investigation
The case followed an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands into Webster’s online activity. Following his guilty pleas, the case has been sent to Warwick Crown Court for sentencing. Webster is due to appear before the Crown Court on September 2.
