Mum Sets Son’s Car on Fire in Shocking Manslaughter Case

Teresa Sheldon was locked up under a hospital order in July 2015 after pleading guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility for her son Tommy’s tragic death.

The horror began in August 2014 when Tommy was critically injured in a fire inside his mum’s silver Ford Fiesta on Merdon Castle Lane, Hursley, Hampshire. He was rushed to hospital but died two weeks later.

Back then 38-year-old Sheldon from dartford/" title="Dartford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Dartford, Kent admitted she’d doused the car’s interior with petrol and sparked the blaze with a cigarette lighter.

Attempted Murder Charge

Sheldon also faced trial at Winchester Crown Court for the attempted murder of a second victim, who remains unnamed due to legal reasons. Thankfully, this person managed to escape the fiery attack unharmed.
