Snodland Home Shut Down After Anti-Social Nightmare
A property in Pollyfields Close, Snodland, has been slapped with a closure order after a string of anti-social and criminal behaviour rocked the neighbourhood.
Police Crack Down with Tough Legal Action
On Friday 24 November 2023, Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court approved the closure order under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. The ruling bans all visitors except the landlord. Breaking the order risks jail time or an unlimited fine.
Community Safety Unit Takes a Stand
Kent Police’s Tonbridge and Malling Community Safety Unit, along with the force’s legal team and Central Prevention Command, moved in after repeated complaints between July and November 2023. Locals reported harassment and anti-social behaviour that made life a misery for neighbours.
“Our officers identified the address in Snodland as receiving a high number of complaints of anti-social behaviour, which was negatively affecting neighbouring properties,” said Inspector Terry Newman.
“This order will give respite to residents and enable us to work with housing officers to prevent any future crime and disorder at the property. We are committed to using every power available and bringing cases to court.”
Man Arrested and Remanded in Custody
Adrian Bathurst, 61, appeared at the same court charged with harassment without violence and assault. He has been remanded in custody and is due back for a further hearing on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
