Speeding Nut Mows Down Passenger, Ditches Him to Die – Jailed for Over Nine Years

A reckless driver who crashed into a lorry before leaving his passenger to die has been slammed with a hefty nine-year sentence. Connor Money, 23, tore down the M2 near Rainham at speeds up to 140mph in October 2019, trying to overtake an HGV when disaster struck.

Fleeing Driver Ignored Police Before Deadly Crash

Money, from Dartford, was spotted driving dangerously by Kent Police officers in an unmarked car. They tried to pull him over, but instead of stopping, he hit the accelerator and sped off. Within minutes, multiple calls flooded Kent Police, reporting his reckless driving.

Catastrophic Crash Caught on Dashcam

Dashcam footage revealed Money’s mad rush, including a failed attempt to overtake a lorry near Junction 4. He collided into the back of a joining HGV but chose to flee the scene into nearby woods—leaving his 23-year-old passenger dead at the roadside.

Justice Served: Long Sentence and Driving Ban

Metropolitan Police officers on a training exercise stumbled on the crash, gave first aid, and soon found Money hiding nearby. He was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and jailed at Woolwich Crown Court. He will also face a 10-year driving ban once released, plus 10 extra months for another offence.

“Money’s decision to ignore police and speed away at grossly excessive speeds is beyond comprehension. This is without doubt the worst driving I have encountered in 25 years,” said Sergeant Chris Wade. “A young man died because of Money’s recklessness, and his first act was to run away.”

“His behaviour was disgraceful, and the six months he denied the charge before finally pleading guilty show his true nature. I hope justice brings some closure to those affected.”
