Knife Horror in Nottingham: Three Men Slashed in City Centre Attack
Kyle Newell, 34, launched a brutal knife attack on three innocent men in Nottingham city centre. Armed with a sharp weapon, he struck them on St James’ Street, causing horrific injuries.
Victims Suffer Devastating Injuries
- One victim needed 100 stitches to the back of his head.
- The other two were left with serious facial wounds, permanently scarring them.
After the savage assault on 19 February, Newell fled the scene. He threw away his clothes, phone, and the weapon – which police never recovered.
Guilty Plea After Months of Denial
Newell, from Claremont Road, Carrington, faced Nottingham Crown Court and admitted three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, plus possession of a bladed article in public. On Friday 9 December, he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
“This was an appalling and unprovoked display of extreme violence,” said Detective Constable Richard Doel. “Newell tried to evade justice but, after months of anxiety for the victims, he finally admitted guilt when overwhelming evidence proved him guilty.”
“I hope others carrying knives think twice before going out armed. This sentence should offer some comfort to the victims, who now live with emotional and physical scars from Newell’s cowardly actions.”
