Cop Axed Over Sexual Misconduct Claims

A police officer at Wiltshire Police HQ has been booted from the force after a hearing found him guilty of gross misconduct. PC James Aubrey’s actions breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, marking a serious breach of trust.

Off-Duty Misconduct Leads to Dismissal

The misconduct dates back to between November 2022 and April 2023. During this period, PC Aubrey was accused of sexually inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague and making unwanted sexual contact. The disciplinary panel reviewed six allegations, upholding two in full and one partially. As a result, Aubrey was dismissed without notice and placed on the national barred list, banning him from any future policing roles.

Senior Cop Condemns Behaviour

Deputy Chief Constable Craig Dibdin slammed Aubrey’s conduct as “quite frankly disgusting.” He said, “Not only did they fall well below the standards we expect and that the public demands, but they also showed a total lack of respect for a colleague.”

“We demand the highest professionalism both on and off duty,” Dibdin added, “and we’ll keep rooting out anyone who undermines public trust.

“Thanks to the brave witnesses who stepped forward and everyone who helped hold PC Aubrey accountable. We urge all members of our organisation to report any behaviour that doesn’t meet our high standards and what the public rightly expects.”

Note: The officer has 10 working days to appeal the decision under the Police Conduct Regulations 2020.
