Shocking Abuse Case: Couple Jailed for Brutal Death of Teen Sebastian Kalinowski

Couple Locked Up for 39 Years Over Teen’s Torture Death

Agnieszka Kalinowska, 35, and her partner Andrzej Latoszewski, 38, were sentenced to a minimum of 39 years behind bars for the savage killing of 15-year-old Sebastian Kalinowski.

Sebastian’s heartbreaking death came after months of horrific abuse. The boy suffered an illness linked to untreated injuries, including multiple broken ribs. The young teen had lived with the couple in Huddersfield for under a year after relocating from Poland.

Horrific Details of Abuse Revealed at Leeds Crown Court

Evidence revealed Sebastian was beaten with a wooden bed slat, whipped with an extension cable, and stabbed with a needle in his thigh and crotch. Surveillance footage secretly installed by the couple showed daily physical assaults in the weeks leading to his death on August 13, 2021.

CCTV captured Latoszewski dragging Sebastian — naked, wet, and unconscious — from his bedroom. Yet police were only called over two and a half hours later.

Judge Condemns Bullies Before Sentencing

The judge blasted Latoszewski as a “bully” who targeted Sebastian because he was weaker. He told Kalinowska she simply “didn’t care” for her son and was “solely concerned with herself.” The brutality was unimaginable and relentless.

Agnieszka broke down in tears, telling the court, “I should have died instead of him.” Meanwhile, Sebastian’s father in Poland said, “You have taken my son’s life in a brutal and merciless way.”

Police Describe Disturbing Investigation

West Yorkshire officers had to sift through 4,000 hours of distressing footage from the couple’s home. Detective Chief Inspector Tony Nicholson called it “the most terrible, awful, and heartbreaking” case of his 29-year career.

Sebastian, who spoke little English and had no friends in the UK, was completely dependent on the couple for care — care they cruelly denied him.

This brutal killing has sent shockwaves across Huddersfield and beyond, highlighting a tragic failure to protect a vulnerable child from relentless torment.
