Drunk Housemate Stabs Dad to Death in Ellesmere Port

A 22-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering his housemate in Ellesmere Port after a vicious stabbing attack. Arkadiusz Kaczmarek stabbed 47-year-old father Slawomir Kulesza multiple times in their shared home on Blakemere Court, a jury ruled on Thursday 29 October at Chester Crown Court.

Brutal Attack in the Early Hours

Kaczmarek claimed he was too drunk to remember the details of that fateful night on 1 May. But CCTV footage showed him roaming Westminster Road carrying the kitchen knife used in the murder. Neighbours were woken by loud noises around 1am. Kaczmarek left Slawomir bleeding on the kitchen floor and went out to dump the weapon nearby.

“He subjected Slawomir to a horrific degree of violence, stabbing him multiple times including through the head into the brain and through the heart,” said Detective Inspector Kate Tomlinson. “Kaczmarek then left him to die and took his phone so Slawomir couldn’t call for help.”

Blood on Kaczmarek’s clothes matched the victim’s DNA. The knife was found days later by a member of the public who alerted police.

Police Swift to Act

Officers found Kaczmarek asleep in a front garden after disposing of the knife. Despite language barriers, police traced him back to the house where they discovered Slawomir lying fatally wounded. Medics administered CPR but the dad-of-one was pronounced dead soon after.

Kaczmarek was arrested at the scene. This was his first criminal offence, police confirmed. The brutal killing shocked the local community.

Justice and Warnings

“This was a vicious, sustained assault completely out of character for Kaczmarek,” added DI Tomlinson. “We may never know why he stabbed his housemate multiple times that night.”

Chief Inspector Catherine Pritchard thanked the public and officers for their role in securing a conviction, praising the tireless work of the Major Investigation Team.

“The consequences of heavy drinking and knife crime are devastating,” said Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane. “My condolences go to the victim’s family, who I hope find some comfort in this conviction.”

Kaczmarek remains in custody and is due back in court for sentencing on Friday 30 October.
