Basingstoke Drug Den Shut Down by Police After Anti-Social Chaos

Police have slammed the door on a notorious drug den in Basingstoke. A closure order was slapped on a Worting Road property today (Wednesday, July 6) after mounting reports of anti-social behaviour and disorder.

Magistrates Back Police Crackdown

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court greenlit the order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Hampshire Constabulary, teaming up with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, pushed for the closure after countless complaints about criminal activity, including drug offences.

The order bans anyone from entering the property for three months unless police give the nod. Anyone caught breaking the ban faces criminal charges.

Strong Message to Criminals

Sergeant Trevor Taylor from Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“This action has been taken following an increasing number of reports of criminal behaviour linked to this address in recent months. The activities of occupants here have had a huge impact on nearby residents. This order sends a clear message: we will not tolerate this behaviour and will use every power to stop it.”

Police Urge Public to Speak Up

Sergeant Taylor added, “The information we get from the public is vital for making our community safe. If you’re worried about drug crime or anti-social behaviour in your area, call your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.

Alternatively, report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
