Jailbird’s Sentence Extended After Brutal Prison Attack

Baz Hockton has landed himself an extra 10 years behind bars after viciously attacking a fellow inmate at HMP Swaleside.

Ramsgate Man’s Savage Assault

Hockton, who once called Ramsgate home, was caught on a prison stairwell on April 8, 2019, viciously slashing another prisoner’s face with a weapon. The brutal attack left the victim with nasty scars and lasting injuries.

Double Trouble for Hockton

Kent Police investigated the stabbing at Swaleside, but Hockton’s sentencing was delayed until October 8 at the Old Bailey — when he was also handed a whopping 23-year sentence for a separate crime probed by the Metropolitan Police.

His 10-year sentence for the Swaleside attack will run alongside the longer term.

Investigator Slams Violent Offender

“Hockton is a violent and dangerous man,” said Detective Constable Karen Hearn. “The victim was attacked without provocation and suffered serious injuries. This behaviour is shocking and totally unacceptable. I’m glad he’s been sentenced properly.”
