Devious Rapist Jailed for Six Years After Tricking Woman into Fake Reunion

Noormal Nazari, 31, has been locked up for six years after conning a woman into believing they were old school pals – before raping her. The twisted liar first met his victim on 19 August 2016 in Reading, Berkshire. He quickly spun a story that they’d actually known each other 17 years earlier.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, genuinely thought she was meeting an old school friend. Nazari played along, arranging a “catch up” – even though he had never met her before and wasn’t even in the UK when she was at school, the court heard.

Fake Friendship Leads to Drinking Session

The next day, Nazari picked her up and headed to Basingstoke. They spent the evening pounding pints in a pub before moving on to a local club. The victim was plied with so much alcohol that she fell ill and begged Nazari to drive her home.

In a chilling act of deception, Nazari claimed he was also too drunk to drive. Instead of taking her home, he took her to a nearby Holiday Inn on Grove Road in the early hours of 21 August – where he raped her.

Justice Served

On Friday 6 July 2018, Nazari, from Charlville Drive, Calcot, was found guilty of rape by a unanimous jury. He was sentenced to six years behind bars the same day.

“Nazari is a devious sexual predator who thought he could get away with plying the victim with so much alcohol that she would become too vulnerable to protect herself from him,” said DC Clare Hughes, who led the investigation.

“From the moment he saw the victim he began planning his despicable attack. She thought she was going out for a catch up with an old friend from school.”

“She hadn’t seen this person for so long that she didn’t realise the man in front of her was in fact not the person he claimed to be. I am pleased with today’s outcome and that Nazari is now behind bars.

“I want to thank the victim for her unwavering bravery and courage, especially through what has been a very difficult two-year period.”
