Kent Police Crack Down on Festive Drink and Drug Drivers
Kent Police is hitting the brakes on Christmas drink and drug driving. Last year, over 200 drivers were nabbed during the festive crackdown. This year, officers are gearing up to catch even more reckless motorists.
Operation Festive Patrols: Zero Tolerance on the Roads
The force’s Roads Policing Unit is out in force across Kent, using intelligence-led tactics to target hot spots. Expect breath tests, roadside drug swipes, and field impairment checks around the clock. No one gets a free pass – if you’re caught under the influence, you’ll be arrested and charged.
Drink and drug driving isn’t just a Christmas problem, but with more socialising comes more risk. Police are warning drivers to be extra cautious this season.
Plan Your Night Out – Don’t Risk It
- Put aside cash for a taxi
- Nominate a sober driver
- Remember: no safe amount of alcohol for drivers
Sergeant Mark Carron from the Roads Policing Unit said, “We want everyone to enjoy the festivities – but responsibly. Our advice is simple: plan ahead. If you’re driving, don’t drink. Every year, lives are put at risk by those who think it’s okay to drive under the influence. We’re here to make it clear – it’s not.”
He added, “We want Kent’s roads safe for everyone, locals and visitors alike. That’s why we are ruthless with offenders during this campaign.”
Don’t gamble with your life or others’. Stay safe this Christmas – if you drink, don’t drive.
