Tragic Blaze Claims Life of 13-Year-Old Lily
Neighbours made a desperate, brave attempt to save a home engulfed in flames in Hamstreet, near Ashford, Kent. But the ferocious fire proved too fierce, tragically claiming the life of a 13-year-old girl named Lily.
Neighbours’ Heroic Efforts Beaten Back by Raging Fire
The flames erupted shortly after midday on Sunday, quickly sweeping through the semi-detached house.
Locals charged towards the inferno, trying to help. But thick smoke and intense heat forced them back.
“It started downstairs and spread really quickly. There was nothing we could do at that point. It was really bad. We were all beaten back,” said one witness.
Firefighters Fight Flames Amid Injuries
Six fire engines and a height appliance stormed to the scene, battling the blaze with all their might.
Sadly, Lily was pronounced dead at the scene. A second child and an adult were rushed to hospital, their conditions unknown.
Three firefighters suffered injuries but were treated and released.
Kent Fire and Rescue urged locals to keep windows and doors shut and to avoid the area during the emergency.
House Left Devastated as Investigation Continues
Images from the scene reveal severe damage: windows blown out, blackened frames, and a large hole torn through the roof, with smoke still billowing out into the street.
Christmas decorations lay scattered on the lawn, adding to the tragic scene.
The fire engulfed the entire home. The cause remains under investigation as crews continue damping down the wreckage.
