Hoax Sexual Assault Call Sparks Full Police Response in Lenham
Kent Police scrambled to Lenham at 6.40pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022, after a report of a sexual assault. The emergency response included police dog handlers and even a police helicopter.
But it turned out to be a hoax.
Investigation Underway as Police Warn Against False Calls
Inspector Steve Kent from maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Community Safety Unit slammed the prank. He said, “Making hoax calls to emergency services puts genuine victims at risk by diverting resources from real crimes and life-threatening situations.”
He added, “False reports are a serious offence and can lead to criminal charges. All calls to Kent Police are recorded and may be used as evidence in court.
