Man Charged Over Hastings Seafront Rape
Detectives are hunting witnesses after a brutal rape on Hastings seafront in the early hours of Sunday, 12 February.
Attack Took Place Between Hastings Pier and Robertson Street
A 24-year-old woman was attacked on the beach between Hastings Pier and the Robertson Street junction between 3.50am and 4.20am. Both the victim and suspect arrived from the Robertson Street direction.
The suspect was spotted wearing a dark jacket over a light hooded jumper, dark trousers, and trainers.
Suspect in Custody as Investigation Continues
Matthew Taylor, 30, a groundsman from Hastings, was arrested on 13 February and charged with two counts of rape. He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 15 February and remains in custody, with his next hearing set for 15 March.
Specialist officers are supporting the victim as inquiries press on. Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the attack or unusual behaviour nearby.
