Man, 81, Charged with Murder of Elderly Woman in Bexleyheath

Tragedy on Dunwich Road

Police launched a murder investigation after an 81-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Bexleyheath.

Officers were called to Dunwich Road at 8:22am on Friday, 15 November following concerns for the woman’s welfare. Paramedics and police arrived to find Carol James with serious injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brian James in Custody

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He has been identified as 81-year-old Brian James, a resident of Dunwich Road. Brian James has now been charged with murder and is due in front of the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 20 November.

Family Devastated

The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers during this heartbreaking time.

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Magee said: “This is a tragic incident where a family has lost a loved one. We ask that the public respect the privacy of Carol’s family during this difficult time.”

Investigation Ongoing

The police investigation remains active as officers work to piece together what happened. No further details have been released.
