Teen Convicted in Fatal Islington Stabbing

An 18-year-old has been found guilty of murdering Mohamed Abdi Noor in Islington following a police inquiry into the deadly stabbing.

Sanchez Tate, of Tufnell Park Road, was convicted at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 1 October. The victim, 21-year-old Mohamed Abdi Noor, was rushed to hospital after being stabbed on 11 December 2023 but died the next day despite emergency treatment.

Tragic Row Turns Deadly Over Knocked-Over Motorbike

Police were called to Tufnell Park Road at 7:27pm on 11 December after reports of a stabbing. Investigators believe the deadly incident ignited from a heated verbal argument when Mohamed discovered his motorbike had been knocked down near his home.

The altercation quickly escalated. Tate, who was carrying a sword with a 43.5cm blade, decided to use it with fatal consequences.

Detective Slams “Callous Stupidity” of Killer

Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith said: “The decision to carry a weapon can, as this case shows, be life-changing. My thoughts are with Mohamed’s family, who have lost a dearly loved member and friend. There are no winners here. Tate, who was 17 at the time, will now have plenty of time in prison to reflect on his callous stupidity.”

He also praised the courage of witnesses who intervened during the attack, tried to stop the violence, administered first aid, and provided critical evidence at trial.

Convicted Killer to Be Sentenced This November

Tate was arrested at his home near the crime scene on the night of 11 December and charged with murder shortly after Mohamed’s death. He will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on 21 November.
