Prom Night Turns Deadly: Teen Stabbed Outside Stevenage School Bash
What should have been a night of joy ended in horror when 18-year-old Kajetan Migdal was fatally stabbed in an unprovoked attack just after his school prom. The stabbing happened on Cutty’s Lane, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on the evening of May 27, 2022.
Murder Conviction for Killer with “Zombie-Style” Knife
Patrick Sharp-Meade, 20, from the same street, was found guilty of murder at 123 Crown Court after judges rejected his defence. The court heard how Migdal was preparing to head to an after-party with friends when Sharp-Meade suddenly appeared, armed with a large “zombie-style” knife, and launched a brutal attack near the victim’s car.
Prosecutor Jane Bickerstaff KC described the chilling moments leading up to the stabbing. Sharp-Meade, already consumed by irrational jealousy after overhearing his ex-girlfriend on the phone, grabbed the knife from his flat and confronted the group, fatally wounding Kajetan.
Family Mourns “Pacifist” Teen and Dance Champion
Kajetan’s grandmother, Lorna Buckland, paid a heartfelt tribute outside court, calling her grandson a “pacifist who hated violence” and “the life and soul” of their family. Despite rushing Kajetan to Lister Hospital, doctors could not save him, and he died in the early hours after the attack.
Kajetan was more than just a promising student. He was a talented dancer, known for starring on BBC TV’s Greatest Dancer and winning a world street dancing championship in 2017 as part of the Prospects Fraternity crew.
Killer to Face Life Behind Bars
Sharp-Meade’s sentencing is set for May 17, where he faces a mandatory life sentence. The judge will decide the minimum term he must serve. The case has shocked the community, exposing the tragic costs of pointless violence and leaving families shattered.
The courtroom was filled with tears as friends and relatives of Kajetan embraced after the guilty verdict, mourning a young life taken too soon.
