Mother Charged After Deadly Sutton House Fire Kills Four Children

A heart-wrenching tragedy has struck Sutton, London. Deveca Rose, 29, has been charged with manslaughter and child abandonment after a devastating house fire claimed the lives of her four young children.

Horrific Fire Claims Two Sets of Twins

The blaze tore through their Collingwood Road home on December 16, 2021. The victims were two sets of twins: three-year-olds Leyton and Logan Hoath, and four-year-olds Kyson and Bryson Hoath.

Reports say the children were left home alone when the fire engulfed the ground floor. Firefighters battled the flames and rescued the kids using breathing apparatus, performing CPR at the scene. Sadly, all four were later pronounced dead at two separate hospitals in South London.

Mother to Face Court Over Tragic Loss

Rose was formally charged on Thursday, December 7th, with four counts of manslaughter and child abandonment under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933. She is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said the incident has left the Sutton community deeply shaken. They confirmed a complex investigation is ongoing alongside partner agencies.

Family and Community in Mourning

Rose has spoken publicly about the “deep anguish” she feels over losing her sons, lovingly recalling memories of school days, dancing, park visits, and family times.

Dalton Hoath, the father, expressed his own devastation and grief. Outside the burnt-out terrace house, neighbours have created a touching shrine with flowers, balloons, toys, and football scarves to honour the children’s memory.

Police have urged the public to avoid sharing any material that could jeopardise court proceedings. The local community continues to reel from this devastating loss as the case moves forward.
