Tragic Van Crash in Culverden Down Claims Life of 75-Year-Old
A 75-year-old local suffered serious injuries after being struck by a white Volkswagen Transporter van in Culverden Down on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Driver Arrested and Released on Bail
The crash happened around 5.15pm. The 55-year-old van driver was arrested but is currently out on bail until March 28.
Victim Dies as Police Continue Investigation
“The victim sadly died in hospital during the early hours of Wednesday 11 January, and we are continuing our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision,” said Detective Sergeant Chris Wade of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU).
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the van shortly before the collision. They’re also asking for any dashcam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage that could help crack the case.
