Met Police Officer Charged with Shocking Crimes – Boss Speaks Out
A probationary Metropolitan Police officer from the North Area Basic Command Unit (BCU) has been charged with membership of a banned organisation, possession of indecent images, and fraud offences. The officer remains suspended as the case unfolds.
Police Chief Warns Public: This Is Serious
Detective Superintendent Ella Marriott, acting North Area BCU Commander, addressed the charges today. “These are extremely serious allegations. We understand how shocking it is for the public, especially local communities in North 1, to learn that a serving officer is involved,” she said.
Marriott added, “Integrity is the backbone of policing. Any officer suspected of extremist links or behaviours must expect a rigorous investigation. The Met and the public simply won’t tolerate this.”
Swift Action by Counter Terrorism Team
Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command led the investigation, backed fully by the North Area BCU. Marriott emphasised, “We treat criminal allegations against officers with utmost seriousness. This investigation moved quickly to bring charges.”
Upholding Trust and Justice
“While the case proceeds through the courts, it’s crucial not to jeopardise the process,” Marriott cautioned. “Our commitment is clear—we will thoroughly investigate and prosecute any officer suspected of criminal conduct. This reassures the public that the Met holds its officers to the highest standards.”
