Knife attack horror after dating app meet-up in Worsbrough
In the early hours of Wednesday, December 21, two men faced a terrifying ordeal after meeting other men via a dating app in Worsbrough, near Sheffield.
Stolen car getaway after shocking knife threat
At around 2:55 a.m., police were called to a car park off Haverlands Lane. The four men had arranged to meet at Asda on Upper Sheffield Road before walking to the nearby parking lot. Suddenly, the two victims were threatened with a knife. The driver was stabbed in the neck but suffered only minor injuries that didn’t need stitches and weren’t life-threatening.
The attackers fled the scene in a stolen grey Peugeot Allure E-HDI.
Police hunt suspects and dash cam footage urged
South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses. Officers want anyone who saw the grey Peugeot driving through the area around 3 a.m. to come forward.
“If you were driving in Worsbrough at that time and have a dash cam, please check your footage,” said DC Toni Wain, leading the investigation.
Warning for dating app users
“This was a terrifying ordeal for these two victims,” DC Wain said. “Violent crime like this is completely unacceptable in South Yorkshire. We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
“While most dating app users are genuine, some have criminal intentions. Please take safety precautions when meeting strangers from online apps.”
Police urge all dating app users to stay vigilant and meet in public places where possible. Anyone with information can contact South Yorkshire Police immediately.
