Officers were called to Grassmere, Cotgrave, after the incident at around 6.45pm on Wednesday evening when the victim, a man in his twenties, was assaulted.

He remains in hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Thursday) afternoon on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was later released on conditional bail.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty assault that left a man in hospital.

“We are currently investigating what happened and have now arrested a suspect.”
