Second Man Nabbed in English Channel People-Smuggling Probe
The National Crime Agency (NCA) has swooped again, arresting a 56-year-old man in northwest London over a daring migrant smuggling case. The suspect was caught at his Harrow home on the morning of October 10.
Boats, Migrants and a High-Stakes Crossing
The arrest links back to June 2022, when a pleasure boat reportedly ferried at least ten migrants from Normandy to the UK. Witnesses saw the group land at Slapton Sands, Devon, then dash off into waiting cars.
Police believe the London man helped organise the illegal crossing. He now faces conspiracy charges for facilitating illegal migration and remains in custody for questioning by NCA officers.
Follow-Up After First Arrest
This latest charge comes after the December 2022 arrest of 58-year-old Tony Williams from Lydford, Devon. Williams has been charged for the same incident and is due in Exeter Crown Court on October 30.
NCA Vows to Smash People-Smuggling Gangs
“We’re committed to targeting organised crime groups along the entire smuggling route — no matter their methods,” said Andy Macgill from the NCA. “We’ll keep pursuing those responsible until they face justice.”
This high-profile investigation highlights the ongoing battle against illegal migration and the ruthless gangs behind it. Law enforcement continues its fight to dismantle criminal networks and protect vulnerable migrants seeking a better life.
