SIA Door Staff Jailed After Brutal Nightclub Assault in Dover
A licensed nightclub doorman has been locked up for 20 months after a savage attack outside a Dover venue left a man unconscious.
Doorman’s Deadly Restraint
Martin Feehan, 51, of Clarendon Street, Dover, went over the top when he assaulted a man trying to get back into the club on 28 October 2018. The victim, who was out with friends, was asked to leave the venue and a confrontation erupted outside. Feehan pushed the man away, tore another man’s jacket, then pinned him to the floor for 17 minutes, pressing his knee against the victim’s head. The man lost consciousness before eventually coming round.
Security Badge Didn’t Save Him
Although Feehan is an SIA-licensed doorman, he was not working the night of the assault. He had merely stopped to chat near the club—still flashing his security badge when the attack happened.
Police Crack Down on Nightlife Violence
Detective Constable Kay Brown said: “Feehan went well beyond what would have been proper and proportionate restraint and could easily have left his victim more seriously injured. We work hard to tackle late-night violence in Kent’s towns and cities and will look to prosecute anyone who assaults another during an evening out.”
Feehan pled guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Folkestone Magistrates Court and was sentenced at 1 Crown Court on Monday 27 January.
