Detectives are continuing their investigation into a fatal stabbing incident in Brent, Northwest London and have identified the victim as 17-year-old Claudyo Jauad Lafayett. The tragic incident took place on Friday, 14 July, on Granville Road, NW6, when police were alerted to reports of a street fight and a stabbing.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service worked tirelessly to save the teenager’s life. Despite their efforts, Claudyo Jauad Lafayett succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time.
A special post-mortem examination held on Tuesday, 18 July, revealed that Claudyo’s cause of death was a stab wound to the abdomen. Another male, also believed to be 17 years old, received treatment at the scene before being transported to the hospital, where he currently remains in a stable condition. Additionally, a woman in her early 20s received hospital treatment for an injury to her hand and has since been discharged.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation, and three arrests have been made in connection with the murder. On Saturday, 15 July, an 18-year-old man identified as [A] was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and has since been released on bail. On Monday, 17 July, officers arrested two more men, both aged 18 years old, who have also been released on bail pending further investigations.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, leading the investigation, appealed to the public for more information to assist their ongoing efforts. He expressed the urgency of the situation and the need for witnesses to come forward to help piece together the events leading to the tragic incident.
“A birthday party has ended in tragedy, and a family has been left mourning the loss of a young man who had his whole life ahead of him,” said DCI Jolley. He urged anyone who witnessed the incident, heard or saw anything suspicious, or captured any footage on their phones to come forward and share it with the police.
