High-Speed Crash on The Strand: Third Arrest Made

Officers probing a serious crash on Liverpool’s The Strand have made a third arrest. It happened in the early hours of Saturday, 7 October. A white Audi TT, speeding through the city centre around 1.10am, caught police attention.

Chaotic Collision Sparks Chaos

The Audi smashed into a private hire car near Brunswick Street junction. The cab then hit a pedestrian, a man in his 40s, who suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The private hire driver, a man in his 50s, was also hurt, needing treatment for neck injuries.

Suspects Flee, But Police Close In

Initially, two suspects – a 53-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man – fled on foot. But police have now caught a third suspect: a 28-year-old man from Southport. He’s in custody, facing charges including dangerous driving causing serious injury, failing to stop, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, leading the investigation, said: “We thank the public for their help so far but still need witnesses or dashcam footage. Particularly interested in the driver of a black car described as a white man with fair hair, dark shorts, light t-shirt, dark trainers and carrying a bag. He appeared injured.”

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

Authorities are appealing to locals and businesses to check any CCTV or dashcam footage. Even the smallest detail could help catch those responsible.

The case is also being looked into by the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior police contact with those involved.
