Chaos on the Rails: Trains Routed Wrongly Amid Strikes
Rail safety fears soar as TSSA reveals shocking reports of trains being sent down incorrect tracks, risking deadly accidents. The mess has sparked service delays and major disruption for passengers nationwide.
Safety Alerts Ignored, Signals Left Unchecked
The union warns of signal boxes left closed, safety warnings not activated, and even stand-in staff pushing trains to depart against red signals during yesterday’s strike action.
“Any one of these safety violations could have resulted in a serious accident, putting both passengers and rail workers at risk,” said TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes.
Union Demands Urgent Safety Probe
The TSSA is calling on the safety inspectorate to launch an immediate investigation. They demand strict measures to guarantee safe working conditions for tomorrow’s planned strikes.
“Safety must always be the priority. No corners should be cut — not even during lawful industrial action,” Cortes added. “Inexperienced or untrained staff must never handle critical roles like signalling or train dispatch.”
Union Urges Government to End Rail Row
Cortes slammed unsafe practices as a dangerous response to the dispute and urged government intervention.
“The best way to stop disruption is for ministers to come to the table and settle this dispute — not by risking lives with reckless working practices,” he warned.
