NCA Cracks Down on People Smuggling Ring
The National Crime Agency (NCA) has made a major bust, arresting two men and a woman linked to a ruthless people smuggling gang. The syndicate helped illegal immigrants cross into the UK on small boats. The NCA’s swoop aims to smash these dangerous networks once and for all.
Old Oscott Man Named Key Agent in Cross-Channel Smuggling
Among those arrested is a 53-year-old man from Old Oscott, Birmingham. Authorities say he acted as a key ‘agent’, coordinating with continental smuggling gangs. He allegedly arranged boat passages and handled payments to bring people unlawfully into the UK.
The suspect was charged with conspiring to facilitate illegal immigration. Police also seized a large stash of cash and multiple mobile phones, now being examined for vital evidence.
NCA Warns of Deadly Risks and Border Threats
“These criminals not only threaten UK border security, but also put vulnerable people’s lives at serious risk,” said NCA Branch Commander Mick Pope.
He stressed that fighting organised immigration crime remains a top priority as the NCA ramps up its crackdown.
Ongoing Fight Against Organised Immigration Crime
This case is just one of over 90 active NCA investigations targeting people smuggling networks. The agency’s recent arrests prove their relentless effort to dismantle these deadly operations and secure Britain’s borders.
