Burglar Gang Nabbed: Over 12 Years of Jail Time Handed Down

Three men have been locked up for a string of burglaries and vehicle thefts that rocked Hampshire between March and August 2023. Portsmouth Crown Court handed down a combined sentence exceeding 12 years today, shutting down the crooks for good.

Cross-County Crime Spree Hits Hampshire and West Sussex

The trio wreaked havoc across Hampshire and West Sussex, stealing everything from a Vauxhall Corsa in Gosport to high-end vehicles like Peugeots, Audis, BMWs, and Mercs. Their raids included a break-in at Bishops Gate in Fareham and several sneaky car thefts.

Thieves Named and Shamed: Sentences Revealed

  • Rhys Martin Andrews, 23, from Havant, got 4½ years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and driving offences.
  • Denzel Brian Shane Fewings, 24, of Waterlooville, matched Andrews with a 4½-year sentence for burglary conspiracy and breaching a suspended sentence.
  • Stanley Steven Lambie, 20, a no-fixed-address offender, received 3 years and 4 months for burglary conspiracy and similar breaches.

Police Praise Team Effort, Warn Public to Stay Alert

Investigating officer DC Keeka Crewe-Way of the Eastern Area Crime Team stressed the gravity of such crimes. She said: “These are significant prison sentences that will help to make sure our communities are safer because Andrews, Fewings, and Lambie can no longer target people living in Hampshire.”

Crewe-Way also praised the multi-agency operation that caught the crooks and urged the public to stay vigilant. Any suspicious activity should be reported to Hampshire Police online or via 101. For those wanting to stay anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.

Community Safety Priority

This crackdown shines a spotlight on Hampshire police’s commitment to cracking down on crime and keeping neighbourhoods safe. The successful trial proves no criminal is above the law and sends a clear message to would-be offenders.
