Van Theft and Assault Shakes Hartley

Police rushed to Well Field in Hartley on Monday, 14 September 2020, after a man claimed he was assaulted and his van stolen.

Van Found Abandoned Near Cliffe

The stolen vehicle was later recovered near Cliffe, but parcels were missing from its rear. The same day, officers arrested two men in connection with the incident.

Two Men Charged After String of Crimes

  • Danny Darling, 28, from Ansell Avenue, Chatham
  • Mark Read, 35, from St Patrick’s Gardens, Gravesend

On Thursday, 25 November, both men faced charges of robbery and carrying a knife in public. They were also charged with stealing a Ford Transit camper van in Canterbury on 13 September.

Darling and Read were remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 26 November.
