A 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested last Friday (5 May 2023) on suspicion of money laundering and conspiracy to defraud broadcasting giant Sky.

Officers seized a haul of digital devices from their home, which are now being thoroughly examined for evidence.

Sky Targets Illegal Streaming Networks

Matt Hibbert, Sky’s Director of Anti-Piracy, slammed the high-tech streaming rings. “Illegal streaming networks are often highly organised, using sophisticated technology to distribute stolen content and avoid detection,” he said.

Hibbert added, “It’s vital that the industry works together with law enforcement to tackle these networks. We’re grateful to the East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit (EMSOU) and Nottinghamshire Police for their support in taking this action.”
