A youngster has narrowly avoided serious harm after being hit by a car during the school run in Cowes this afternoon.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Ash Grove, close to Lanesend Primary School, when a child tried to cross the road and was struck by a passing vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, with police and paramedics called immediately. The injured pupil was quickly taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital for checks.

Foot Injuries but No Life-Threatening Damage

Thankfully, the youngster’s injuries are limited to the foot and are not life-changing, sources confirmed tonight.
