Police Nab Croydon Man in High-Speed Stolen Bike Chase

Police sprang into action after a tracker on a stolen motorbike showed it heading north out of Brighton around 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 23. The owner alerted authorities, kicking off a major pursuit.

Multi-Force Chase Across Sussex and Surrey

Officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU), Sussex Dog Section, and Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit teamed up to track down a suspect van carrying the stolen bikes. Despite several vehicle stops and searches on the A23, the tracker showed the van heading into Coulsdon.

Suspect Stopped and Stashed Bikes Recovered

With help from the Metropolitan Police, SEU officers caught the van on London Road, Croydon just after 7pm. Inside the vehicle were two motorbikes reported stolen from Hereford Street, Brighton, and Palmeira Square, Hove.

Croydon Man Arrested for Motorbike Thefts

A 48-year-old Croydon man was arrested on suspicion of stealing two motorbikes. He was taken into custody in Brighton, where he remains held as investigations continue.
